Biography

Aleksandra Dicheva is a pianist, collaborative pianist, educator and researcher in chamber vocal music. At the National Academy of Music 'Prof. Pancho Vladigerov' she completed a master's degree in piano in 2020 in the classes of Prof. Borislava Taneva and Assoc. In 2025 she earned the doctoral degree in professional field 8.3 Music and Dance Art with the dissertation 'The Solo Song in the Oeuvre of Todor Popov – Ensemble-Performance Issues and Foundations of Interpretation'. The study systematises 46 extant solo songs by Todor Popov, proposes a periodisation of his early and late song output, and combines musical analysis, literary-poetic interpretation and performance-practice research. Her professional work at the Academy includes opera coaching and collaborative work with singers. As a performer she is a member of Piano Duo Atmospheres with Mila Mihova; the duo develops contemporary and Bulgarian repertoire, gives premieres and makes recordings, and received the 2022 Crystal Lyre in the Young Performer category. Her individual distinctions include the award for best artistic accompaniment at the Gena Dimitrova International Competition in 2024.
